I admit it’s mean, a little bit mean – but it is fun, a lot of fun.  When doing my training walks I often walk along the Flemish canals and rivers and I often have to share my space with bicycle fanatics.  Unfortunately, their super expensive bikes leave no room in their budget for a bicycle bell.

They often surprise me when they speed-sneak up on me from behind. So I attached a bicycle bell on on my walking pole. Every time they scare me I just ring my bell right after they have passed me. It is great to watch their reaction. They think another cyclist tries to overtake them and they are already driving 45 mph or faster. In sheer panic they look behind them, trying to find  the cyclist who is even better trained than they are…

Confusion, disbelief, chaos, turmoil, and they start to pedal even harder… Nobody notices the discreet bicycle bell on the walkers pole.
