Job Title:
Commercial Manager for Glass eSalvage

Why do you want to climb Mt Kilimanjaro?
To challenge myself. This opportunity has given me real focus, a willingness to succeed, with the knowledge that I’m making a difference to others.

What has been the most challenging thing about this initiative so far?
Raising money, it’s as difficult as the challenge itself, but I’m beginning to make traction

What is the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself so far?
That the body hasn’t been as willing as the mind during training, but personally has been great character building. I’ve reengaged with the countryside, and absolutely loved walking in the lake District on a regular basis.

How are you raising your UNICEF funds?
I have been utilising old body shop skills, to refurbish alloy wheels over the weekends, I have access to the tools and premises, and the uptake from people has been great so far.

If there was going to be a Kilimanjaro playlist for your climb, what song would you choose?
That’s easy, ‘Hearts on Fire’ from the Rocky IV film, remember when he’s scrambling up the mountain! I might even make it to the top and scream 🙂

What luxury are you planning on taking up the mountain with you?
A pillow, I can live without tech, I’m not a fussy eater, but I love my sleep!

Is there anything you are ‘dreading’?
I’ve not really thought about it to be honest, there is always an element of fear in the back of your mind, but the excitement counteracts this.

What are you looking forward to most?
Setting out on the trek, being so fortunate to go to a magnificent country like Africa, and creating memories along the way.
