Some great things I have learned on my way up are Top tips For Team Twende

If you have mountain gear, outdoor gear, outdoor clothes you are not using any more and you are a couple of kilo’s under your maximum allowed airplane holding weight, bring all that kind of stuff for your guides and porters.

Most of their gear is good or at least decent. Our gear is usually good and stays good because we only use it occasionally but they are on the mountain almost daily, doing more miles than you will ever do so their gear suffers a lot.  No only beanies, hats, soft shells, buffs, raingear, but also outdoor shoes, socks, gloves, bottles and even battery packs, your last year’s model smartphone and charger, a small digital camera,  outdoor watch, battery pack, daypacks, sunglasses or ear warmers. Don’t forget that there are female guides and porters as well.  They have a double challenge, not only stay warm but fashionable too.  You can also leave some of the gear you used behind for them after your climb.  But they take so good care of you that you will feel sorry you can not leave them more. I did …

Top tip, ask your store where you buy your outdoor gear if they have something you can have for free in the stock for your brave guides and porters.

Last minute request form Ekeney, our female guide and first aid angel: body tights both up and down and wind clothes- it can be freezing on the summit.
