Job Title:
Head of Sales Effectiveness

Why do you want to climb Mt Kilimanjaro?
To test myself, as a motivation to get fit, to help the most vulnerable children in the world and because it will be an amazing thing to do.

What has been the most challenging thing about this initiative so far?
Recovering from the 127 mile fund raising cycle event, a week later and I’m still struggling with sitting comfortably.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself so far?
That some physical boundaries are mental, and that the right motivation can really help you perform better than you thought you could.

How are you raising your UNICEF funds?
I asked for sponsorship to cycle from Liverpool to Leeds along the canal (in what turned out to be monsoon conditions) and I will take on the 3 Yorkshire Peaks in 1 day; as well as the 3 National Peaks and of course Kili with my team mates.

If there was going to be a Kilimanjaro playlist for your climb, what song would you choose?
I have a playlist which I call ‘Physically Fit’ which is named after the breakdown in Reel 2 Reel’s ‘I like to Move it (Move it)’.

What luxury are you planning on taking up the mountain with you?
Considering my travel guitar – but it’s worth mentioning that Denise Crisell has already threatened to smash it, should I do one too many renditions of kumbya.

Is there anything you are ‘dreading’?
The freezing cold at the top of Kili, the worry about the altitude sickness, the vaccinations, missing my kids, the aches, the pains, the ascent, the decent, the risks, yes… There is a lot I am dreading.

What are you looking forward to most?
The views, the sense of accomplishment, the adventure.
