Team Ubuntu had a successful climb on Day Two and have made it safely to Second Cave. They had a little rain during the first 20 minutes of the climb today, but then it stopped and the rest of the climb was dry. As they came into the camp the clouds cleared and they saw the top of Kilimanjaro for the first time since the Lodge (it has been covered in clouds for the last two days).

Everyone arrived fit and well, though as expected, there are a few headaches.

The team reached camp at 1pm today.  They had lunch and rested for a bit before doing another short acclimatisation climb of 200 metres and back again.  This will help their bodies cope with the altitude.  Before dinner, they did some more singing and dancing with the guides and porters – with lots of smiles and energy all around.

“The clouds cleared and we saw the top of Kili…it’s all just GREAT!” said Rolf Roth.

The team are about to have dinner and will try to get an early night in preparation for a tough day tomorrow.

Well done, Team Ubuntu!

True story… It’s the first time the summit seems really up close and personal. Definitely a ‘woah’ moment.
