Media outlets across North West Yorkshire are abuzz today with the sensational rumours surrounding the possible re-union of ‘The Bribes’.
We spoke to Lead Guitarist, Dan Parnell at his retreat in Leeds; “Well, I was thinking right, if it’s good enough for them Spice wotsits… Then its good enough for The Bribes yeah…. So I got on the old social media to Rooke, Anson, Brothwell and Blair, and said lets do one last show for UNICEF..!’
This wouldn’t be the first time The Bribes have peddled their unique blend of pop-punk-indie-rock in order to raise funds for UNICEF following their sold-out March 2008 show at the Cluny in Newcastle.
That’s right, there’s no miss-print that was in 2008 – so this gig would mark an 11 year anniversary for this band of misfits.
The finer details are still yet to be agreed (including Parnell’s legendary rider requests) but we are expecting a statement from the band in the coming weeks. No doubt demand for tickets will be huge when the dates are finally announced.

I cannot wait, this is brilliant!!
blue m&m’s presumably on the rider list?
Yes, and a dozen red roses, room temperature to be precisely 24 degrees, and all upholstery to be full-moon-white
fans will be flying in from around europe for sure!
That would be awesome, it’d be great to have some team support : )
So I’m assuming that is a youthful DP second from the left? And I’m taking bets that the guy on the far left is the bassist…?
So the line up is, from left to right; Tim Rooke (Vox) Dan Parnell (Lead Guitar) Nick Blair (Bass) John Anson (Drums and BVs) and Andy Brothwell (Rhythm Guitar) – what made you think Tim was the bassist?
It is with deep regret and sadness that I have to inform you that The Bribes will not be playing live again at this time.
Artistic differences, physical logistics, and the non-identification of the last hob-nob stealer, have all been cited as reasons.
Who knows though…. fundraising (and hell-raising) don’t need to end with Kili…
