The Countdown Begins…

With the final countdown to Kili going on for Team Twende there’s not much time left to cover this essential topic for every wannabe-mountaineer, so I’ll be writing about a pair of shoes that I newly acquired.

In September last year I took part in a kickstarter crowdfunding project of a company promoting “the ultimate travel shoe” – a shoe that’s supposed to be super-lightweight, breathable, instantly drying, usable in water, anti-odor, and an all-terrain-sneaker with a slip-resistant sole – here’s their official promo video:

After a rather long waiting time, my pair of those shoes just arrived in time to take them with me to Kili. Although they say it’s the only shoe you need to pack I rather rely on my boots and plan to use them more as back-up shoes to use in camp when we’re still at a climate zone where my feet won’t instantly freeze off.

So far they seem to be pretty comfy and breathable, and they certainly are super light – but if they can fulfill all their promises will need to be confirmed in African mountain terrain.
