A quick trip to Scotland last weekend to celebrate my parents’ Golden Wedding did not get in the way of training – in fact, my family embraced the opportunity to keep me motivated! I was no sooner off the plane than Dad had me marching up the hill behind my parents’ house to enjoy the great views across to the Lomond Hills. Despite being 79, he sets a brisk pace and I can barely keep up!

My brother and his wife then made sure I didn’t slack on the swimming – not an easy task the morning after the night before! However I was further spurred on with the offer of £1 a length from Mum’s cousin and her husband to boost my fundraising efforts.
