3 Peaks in 3 Days – Rising to the Challenge
November 7, 2019

One of the unexpected benefits of training for Kilimanjaro has been to widen my horizons, trying out new walks with Ubuntu colleagues in and around Surrey and exploring new areas in the Lake District. Last week, I joined my friend Ruth for a few days’ walking in Yorkshire – a part of the country I usually fly over on my way from the south to Scotland! Despite wild, autumnal storms bookending the trip, we were incredibly fortunate with the weather and really only needed waterproofs (and woolly hats) to fend off the biting wind!
The bright weather showed the landscape off at its best, with great views across to the Lake District from higher ground as we walked up to High Cup Nick. Our walks also took in sections of the Dales and Pennine Ways and the trip was rounded off with an ascent of Ingleborough, one of Yorkshire’s three peaks, from Ribblehead.  Over four days, we covered around 40 miles and 1850m of ascent – not a bad warm up for Kili! Looking forward to seeing where my boots will take me next! 🙂
