Unexpected weather conditions: a different training for Kili

One of the great things about training for Kili is deciding to do things that you may not normally do.  So when good friends of mine, Wendy and Peter, asked if Rob (hubby) and I wanted to go on a walking holiday to the Peak District, we were, at first, slightly bemused (as our activities together usually involve food and wine only), but then leaped upon the chance to do some training.  There was a large amount of ridicule involved as I tested out my walking poles for the first time – and realised I had no idea how to fill my back pack water bladder.  But once the laughter died down we enjoyed three days of amazing countryside, great chats, puffing up hills, hiding in the woods for pees (not hiding so well in some cases!) and rewarding hefty meals in the evenings.  Thanks to my mates and Rob for being so supportive and getting walking fit with me!
