Job Title:
Business Transformation Manager
Why do you want to climb Mt Kilimanjaro?
It’s a huge challenge! Both physically and mentally! And I absolutely love Africa and can’t wait to experience the sights and sounds on the climb.
What has been the most challenging thing about this initiative so far?
Getting organised with everything – buying all of the kit, getting injections and health checks – and trying to fit in the training around life and work in general.
What is the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself so far?
Thankfully that I really like walking! It is great having this challenge to focus on as it has made me do things that I may not have done otherwise: walking in the snow in Scotland, yomping up beautiful box hill, having a weekend in the Peak District with friends – walking and talking – and then food and drinks in the pub afterwards.
How are you raising your UNICEF funds?
The Ascenders kicked off fundraising with the World Cup predictor game – which was great fun. I have also just completed my fund raising page and will be asking my friends and family to give generously for this great cause.
If there was going to be a Kilimanjaro playlist for your climb, what song would you choose?
Africa by Toto (obvs!). It has been playing in my head for weeks now!
What luxury are you planning on taking up the mountain with you?
A blow up pillow to make sure I get some good sleep!
Is there anything you are ‘dreading’?
Being the great unwashed – and the fear of getting really bad altitude sickness and not getting to the top.
What are you looking forward to most?
The scenery – and cutting off from day to day life to concentrate on the here and now with some like-minded colleagues.
Best of luck to the Autovista Group Ubuntu team tackling their UK 3 peaks challenge this weekend for UNICEF. Go team! #learningonthewayup
And how to exercise on a rainy day... indoor trampoline listening to Berlin techno music. Hilarious! #learningonthewayup
Habits I have got into on the Kili training. Using the stairs always... no matter how grim they are #learningonthewayup
Struggle to get out of bed early Sunday for a quick run but keep thinking if I was half way up Kili I’d have to force myself to get up and on. So a stern word with myself and then off we went. And of course it was just fine! #learningonthewayup
Thinking I might have a bit too much stuff to take up Kili! It will never fit in the kit bag... what do I leave behind? #learningonthewayup
Rainy walk rewarded at the top of Leith Hill. Not quite Kili but highest point in south east! #learningonthewayup
The 5 flights of stairs to the office doesn’t seem to get any easier! Every little helps on the Kili training #learningonthewayup
Halloween fun while collecting for UNICEF. #learningonthewayup
Going back to my skipping youth! Keeping up the Kili training #learningonthewayup

I think I have someone else’s legs this morning. And whoever’s they are is not in good shape! Scafell today? Let’s see! #Learningonthewayup
