As part of my training I decided to do the Camino de Santiago Primitivo (aka as Original). This is the first ever recorded pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the 9th century, and it is also known to be the hardest as it goes through the mountains (many days going uphill and downhill) starting in Oviedo. Moreover is the less popular route to Santiago with about 3%-6% of total pilgrims taking this route. To hike the approx. 340km takes between 12 and 14 days. I did it in 12 days with some days walking around 40kme. Some days were very exhausting because it was very hot and I did many km, and some days were hard because of the heavy rain.

On the hardest days, I realized that when the body feels ready to give up, the mind can “push” the body to keep going. After the hardest days I always had a big and proud smile in my face even if I was really tired. I learned that sometimes we set our own limits shorter than they really are, and that we have to keep pushing increasing our known limits.

Now I need to keep training so my body and mind are ready to the big challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro.
