My thoughts on Kilimanjaro so far…

The bond & the sacrifice

Big Everyday Challenges

At the beginning was the big “Wow” that I had been given the amazing chance to be part of the Ascenders team and to climb with my colleagues up Mount Kilimanjaro. After that, the preparations began: I thought about how to get donations and how best to train for Kilimanjaro. So I started to run, at the beginning 3 times a week 6 km, then 5 times a week 6 km, then 5 times a week 10 km.

One day, I told a good friend about our plan to climb Kilimanjaro for UNICEF UK with Autovista Group and how to prepare for it with daily jogging. And this day was the best day in my preparation for Kili so far, because since that day in August (10th) his company is sponsoring me. They are donating 0,50 Euro for each kilometer that I run and 1,00 Euro for each kilometer that I hike. That was the final push to motivate me to run and to hike even more. I am running and hiking with the App “Runtastic” and every day I send my training results to this company so they can track how many kilometers I have run or hiked. This is a huge motivation to run more and more. The result is, that over the last 40 days I have run 307 kilometers and hiked 62 kilometers. That means in Euro 215,50 (307 x 0,50 and 62 x 1,00) of donations. And many more kilometers and euros will follow… 😊
