Flusskilometer bewältigt – river challenge completed
November 16, 2018

After a few weeks of travelling (both work and pleasure) I’m now home and able to concentrate on the challenges my team mates have set me – in my bid to become fitter and healthier ahead of our Kili adventure in February.

The first challenge I accepted was from Tom Ovenden who challenged me to run for 30 minutes, 5 times, over the course of a week.  I’m pleased to say that today I completed the challenge….and I quite enjoyed it.  I mainly ran outdoors, usually near home, but one morning I was near the River Orwell (Ipswich) and ran there which was beautiful.  One day I ran on the treadmill just to see how fast (or slow) I was running….a picture of the treadmill results are attached and, although not dreadful, it does show that I need to up my speed to take on a future challenge (from Will Morris) to run 5k in less than 40 minutes.

So, what’s next….

Well, I’m taking on two challenges next:

Dan Parnell’s challenge – to swim for 7 hours over the course of a week (starting tomorrow)….now, I thought Dan liked me (in his defense he probably didn’t know how much I would hate this challenge) but I will be cursing Dan for every minute of those long, cold, boring hours in the pool.

Rachel Proctor’s challenge – to eat only healthy snacks for two weeks (started yesterday)…I work better on stricter guidelines (and I find the contradictory diet advice out there very confusing) therefore, I’m not going to eat any snacks outside of meal times unless it’s a piece of fruit or a vegetable.

I’ll let you know how I get on at the end of next week and whether I’m still talking to Dan!
