Kit prep!
February 1, 2019

The last final week in preparation for the trek has been very busy. Last minute worries of should I have this, should I have that? However with the trusty help of Amazon prime I now have everything I need and maybe more! Not sure if I may have gone overboard on the snacks & energy gels/tabs though – but better to be safe than sorry!

The panic I think is now setting in – I can’t believe that we fly out on Tuesday! It doesn’t seem two minutes since the Amazing Ascenders started their journey.

Panic aside, I am really excited about having this fantastic adventure with such a brilliant group of people!! Myself and Dan did a final hike in the Yorkshire Peaks last week which for the fitness side of things really calmed my nerves!

I have plans to keep in contact with my mum and other half by sending them a daily text message for as much as I can before the signal drops out.  I’m sure they will be keeping up with the twitter and blog posts too!

After reaching my fundraising target I am not giving up on the chance of more donations. Reaching out to family and friends who are yet to donate – as I’m sure with a few days left to go people will think ‘Oh, Rachel IS actually doing this!’. So I do urge anyone that has not yet donated to UNICEF that this money will go towards helping people that are really in need!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Schipol… Let the journey commence!
