Today as the support team, one of our main roles was to go into the local town Moshi and get SIM cards for the team to take on their trek.

It’s been an incredible opportunity to see first hand the local culture, and experience the way people interact. After 3 hours in the shop trying to get what we need, it’s really highlighted the fast pace we are used to operating at versus the slower way things are here.

Whenever I go to a new place, one of the first things I try to do is learn how to say thank you. Today, I was delighted when I said thank you in local language (Asante) and received the response hakuna matata!

It’s lovely to be constantly expanding horizons, but in a situation of so much culture shock, it’s lovely to hear something familiar and be able to put it into such a positive context.
