Another weekend, another early morning alarm for a bike ride. This time I was going to jump on the closed road route of the RideLondon-Surrey 100 bike sportive, that happens to pass right by where I live (quite handy). In my locality, the route goes mainly on roads that I often frequent, and the 65 miles we cycled included ascents up Newlands Corner, Leith Hill (the second highest point in South East England) and Box Hill. All in all a decent morning ride in nice weather!
A few hours after returning home it was the turn of the cycling professionals to have a go on the route – it’s safe to say they were more than a little quicker than I was!
